About Occam Research

Occam Research is an independent corporate intelligence firm that was founded in 2016. We work with a variety of clients, including corporates, banks, family offices, private equity investors, hedge funds, lawyers, business consultancies and accountancy firms.

We gather and analyse information obtained through a combination of public records research and enquiries with local and industry contacts and other sources. We can carry out assignments globally, but with a particular emphasis on Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South- and Southeast Asia.

Henry Pugh

Henry Pugh has worked in the investigations sector for almost two decades. For most of this period he worked for one of the larger risk management consultancies, and was instrumental in developing its Business Intelligence department into one of the best-regarded in the sector. He has managed many thousands of investigations, due diligence and intelligence-gathering assignments. He also helped numerous clients to develop and deliver their own risk-based due diligence programmes. These included some of the world’s largest investment banks, law firms, engineering and oil and gas companies. In his last role he was the head of Business Intelligence for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and before that Chief Operating Officer of the Business Intelligence department. Henry started his career in the UK Ministry of Defence, where he worked in policy, analysis and intelligence roles.

 

Jeppe Sorensen

Jeppe Riis Sorensen has spent more than a decade in the investigations sector. He began his career with a global risk consultancy where he oversaw a team that designed and managed global anti-money laundering and anti-corruption due diligence programmes for investment banks and large corporates. Before co-founding Occam Research, Jeppe was head of the European business intelligence practice at another leading risk consultancy. Jeppe has assisted clients with issues ranging from due diligence programme design and compliance advisory to the execution of complex corporate intelligence assignments, including due diligence, market risk assessments, internal investigations, and disputes and litigation support. He has conducted and overseen thousands of investigations spanning a wide range of industry sectors in almost every country in Europe, as well as parts of Latin America, Africa and Asia. Before he entered the corporate intelligence sector, Jeppe trained as a journalist and spent a year working for a Russian news organisation in Moscow. 

 

Coskun Olcer

Coskun Olcer has worked in the investigations sector for over a decade, initially at a global risk consultancy where he managed due diligence projects for multinational companies, financial institutions and law firms. These included pre-transactional research, integrity due diligence, litigation support and asset tracing. In April 2010 Coskun set up his own business risk consultancy, Olcore Ltd, again focusing predominantly on intelligence-gathering assignments and investigative consulting services. Between 2012 and 2014, Coskun also worked for the oil major BP’s investigations team. Coskun started his career in London at Bloomberg and then worked for a Middle East-focused business information provider.
